Hello author, on behalf of all the readers, we would like to discuss something about you and of course, your book as well.  This conversation will help reader to know more about you and your debut book. Please give answers in brief.

Most welcome to Criticspace Journals, Author. We heartily congratulate you for being a published author. It’s really a great achievement. First thing, we would like to know about your basic info as a person, daily life, career so far and anything you would like to share about you with your readers.

Your Answer: I’m an author, an introvert who finds solace in writing and sharing her thoughts quietly. Besides being a writer I am an ailurophile, dendrophile, and a bibliophile. I mostly stay at home, in my home office, that’s where I do most of my writing.

That’s really great; please tell us something about your journey of becoming an author. When you actually started writing and how was the circumstance? Did any person or situation influenced you to write your debut book or was it your childhood hobby of writing?

Your Answer: I started writing when I was 8. The journey took time. It didn’t happen overnight of course, more so because I’m a traditionally published author. Here’s my bio to chronologically walk you through my journey:

About the author, Sukanya Basu Mallik is a multi-genre author, film and book critic. Her works have been published in various journals, magazines, and anthologies nationally and internationally. She began her journey with The Telegraph in Schools and then went on to write for Reader’s Digest, Times of India, Sahitya Akademi Bimonthly Journal, Lucidity Int.

Poetry Journal, SEAL (South East Asian Literature) festival anthologies, and AIPF Int. Anthology

(Austin International Poetry

Festival). She has also received many awards; The Best Manuscript Awards for fiction &

non-fiction categories (Mumbai Litofest, Literature Festival 2018), etc. Her short story ‘Healing of

wounds’ has been awarded a certificate of merit by

National Children’s Literature Festival led by eminent author, Ruskin Bond. Her latest

releases include Mocktail and#Metoo. Her movie reviews have been published in various

newspapers and journals of repute like ‘Just film’ magazine, Different truths,’Creation and

Criticism’ ISSN: 2455-9687(A Quarterly International Peer-reviewed Refereed e-Journal

Devoted to English Language and Literature) and many more. Her first research paper on

literature was published by ‘The Expression: An International Multidisciplinary e-Journal’, ISSN:

2395-4132 (Online)| A Peer-Reviewed Journal |

Impact Factor: 3.9. She’s the only undergraduate student researcher to be considered for

publication by the journal. Her 2nd research paper, “THE AERONAUTS: AN AMALGAM OF

MANY DIFFERENT SITES AND MANY DIFFERENT VOYAGES” (ISBN:

978-3-7487-2794-1)was based on a contemporary movie. She is The influential women 2k20 awardee and a Top 100 debut author 2020 awardee.

 Her upcoming projects include,

‘Books to read and movies to watch @2020: a book of modern literary criticism ‘, a poetry film

and a song that she has written.

Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly? Be descriptive please so that our visitors know about you a little more.

Your Answer:

Yes, For fiction yes because you can’t write a story before you live it in your head, for nonfiction, not always.

 

How do you come up with the titles to your books?

Your Answer: I write the book and come up with a working title that seems suitable but ultimately it is up to my publisher because, in traditional publishing, you don’t have much choice.

 

What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?

Your Answer:

Context, comprehension, content, and language.

Not anyone of the above elements, but for them amalgamation.

 

What comes first, the plot or characters? How do you develop your plot and characters?

Your Answer: The plot, I develop the latter based on the former

 

Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?

Please tell the reader something about your book. What is your message to those readers who have still not read the book? Why they should pick it up for reading?

Your Answer: My readers tell me that they feel like they’re me when they read my work. Maybe it is exactly why you too should read it.

 

And yes, the most important thing we would like to hear from you is what is your message to those new writers who have not yet started their journey of becoming an author? You have been their source of motivation, please convey your thoughts with them.

Your Answer: Persistence, patience, and perseverance. 3ps and no one can defeat you.
