It is absolutely fascinating to see authors like Aakansha come to world of writing this early their age. Aakansha Borthakur a 14-year old from Assam, India has already published two books. ‘Watson and Alice’ her debut work which is about two teenagers going on various adventures.

People often believe writing adventure tale is an easy job; well it’s not that easy. Imagining characters is easy but creating characters and keeping them relevant till the very last page of the book is one of the most difficult tasks an author faces while storytelling, and here the author Aakansha has done a fair job by not letting characters fade way. At the first half of the book, ‘Watson and Alice’ went on for an adventure to reveal the mystery of a corpse which Alice found during her school campaign on an island. In the next adventure, ‘Watson and Alice’ went on to rescue Earth from the alien invasion. It’s a fast-paced novel with an irresistible appeal to fans of sleuthing and investigation, a narrative filled with daring and adventure. The book is a perfect read for the children of age around 10 to 15 as they love reading adventure tales. The pictures in the book help you connect to the story even more. The quirkiness in the dialogues fuels the humour and keeps the story interesting, allowing the characters to shine through the narrative.

Aakansha is definitely a good writer, the tight writing has music of its own, the scenes are well written and there is no confusion when it comes to points of view. As I said perfect for children, but her writing is good enough to make a mark on adults as well. What I want to see her do in future is write longer stories; a set of chapters to make a complete novel and I guess she must be working on it. ‘Watson and Alice’ displays her sense of world economy, the novel is filled with characters that linger in the reader’s mind for sure.

My Review: I will keep my rating to 4/5. ‘Watson and Alice’ is a good book on so many levels of fiction; adventure, suspense, friendship and more, all wrapped up in one great bundle.
