Author Story Article Release
Hello author, on behalf of all the readers, we would like to discuss something about you and of course, your book as well. This conversation will help reader to know more about you and your debut book. Please give answers in brief.
Most welcome to Criticspace Journals, Author. We heartily congratulate you for being a published author. It’s really a great achievement. First thing, we would like to know about your basic info as a person, daily life, career so far and anything you would like to share about you with your readers.
Your Answer: I am a teacher by profession. I was working with a Cambridge international school as English literature teacher, before moving to Qatar in 2017 along with my family. That is when I wrote my debut novel, Sidereal Destiny. Right now I am in India, gearing up to start some new business ventures. I am also busy writing a lot of stuff across different genres, forms. Most probably my next book will be a poetry collection.
That’s really great; please tell us something about your journey of becoming an author. When you actually started writing and how was the circumstance? Did any person or situation influenced you to write your debut book or was it your childhood hobby of writing?
Your Answer: I started to write when I was around 9 years old, but those were funny imitations of the horror movies we used to watch then. I composed my first poem at the age of 11, it was about patriotism. My English teacher loved it, appreciated me a lot. Obviously, I was inspired to write a lot more poems. But, unfortunately, I received more destructive criticism from my family rather than encouragement. Nobody is to be blamed though, it was a time when writing poetry was seen as a useless, talentless thing.
But, I came a long way, facing lot of hurdles.
Regarding my debut novel, Sidereal Destiny, yes, my habit of writing did help, but more than that it is the theme that urged me to bring out the story. India is a land of myriad belief systems and it is important to preserve our rich culture. However, we should also have the wisdom to not fall prey to superstitious beliefs or to the influence of fraudulent people who take advantage of our beliefs.
Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly? Be descriptive please so that our visitors know about you little more.
Your Answer: No way. Writing is basically self-expression. You can express something only when you have experienced it in the first place. The experience could very well be a vicarious one, but the emotion has to be personal and real. Empathy is a mandatory quality for any artist, not just writers.
How do you come up with the titles to your books?
Your Answer: Oh that’s really funny. I start with some name that goes with the theme. But, by the end of the work, somehow, I stumble upon more appropriate words and come up with a new title.
What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?
Your Answer: Originality, clarity, appropriate language, purpose.
What comes first, the plot or characters? How do you develop your plot and characters?
Your Answer: Both are equally important. However, I work from plot to character. I mould characters in accordance with the demand of the plot.
Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?
Your Answer: Yes, I am in Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and Facebook. I do interact with my readers.
Please tell the reader something about your book. What is your message to those readers who have still not read the book. Why they should pick it up for reading?
Your Answer: Sidereal Destiny is a reflection of the society we live in. Yes, it is a love story. But it is also a story that speaks about sibling love, parental relationships, beliefs, superstitions, and above all the story revolves around the idea that how thoughts influence our life.
And yes, the most important thing we would like to hear from you is what is your message to those new writers who have not yet started their journey of becoming an author? You have been their source of motivation, please convey your thoughts with them.
Your Answer: Have varied experiences in life, read widely, write daily, be disciplined, have the willingness to learn and improvise your craft. Also, choose your publishing options wisely.
