Most welcome to Criticspace Journals, Author. We heartily congratulate you for being a published author. It’s really a great achievement. First thing, we would like to know about your basic info as a person, daily life, career so far and anything you would like to share about you with your readers.
I am a septuagenarian Gynaecologist who worked full time for over 40 years, in both Govt and Private sector hospitals of Kerala, India. I love my profession next to my family. I have a perfect family with husband, children and grand kids. I keep a wide friends circle also. Life is beautiful.
That’s really great; please tell us something about your journey of becoming an author. When you actually started writing, and how was the circumstance? Did any person or situation influenced you to write your debut book, or was it your childhood hobby of writing?
I write for medical journals and other social publications for the past 2 decades. An active with my articles in social network also. Actually I started writing from the time my mobile phone got internet connectivity. I typed while waiting for a delivery case in late nights. I typed while my junior colleagues were doing surgeries in the operation theatre. I have given chapters for books by other authors and have published my own book REMINISCENCES OF A GYNAECOLOGIST “recently. This was just to fulfil my passion. My articles are mainly based on my career experiences. I write awareness articles for the lay public and I never use much medical terms.
Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly? Be descriptive please so that our visitors know about you little more.
Any person can become a writer if he or she has a passion for that. One need not have strong emotions to initiate oneself into writing. One need not follow the footsteps of great authors. Instead one can open up one’s own mind fully into the write-ups.
How do you come up with the titles to your books?
I need not search for titles. They come up of their own!!
What, in your opinion, are the most important elements of good writing?
Good writing need not have difficult words, phrases or quoting’s. One can follow one’s own style. One must see in mind the various cross sections of readers while penning the substance.
What comes first, the plot or characters? How do you develop your plot and characters?
As far as my writings are concerned, they begin with a story of my patient, how she came to me, how we interacted, how her challenging health situation was tackled etc. Followed by the details of the condition she suffered, signs and symptoms of that illness, how it is treated and how it can be prevented .All these will come out in a language which is as simple as every layman can understand.
Are you on social media, and can your readers interact with you?
Am very much on social media. My readers always interact with me there.
Please tell the reader something about your book. What is your message to those readers who have still not read the book. Why they should pick it up for reading?
My book ‘Reminiscences of a Gynaecologist ‘ is essentially my experiences with my patients in the labour room, operation theatre, wards, outpatient department and even outside the hospital at public places and social functions. Whoever went through the book were of opinion that it made an interesting, informative and awareness-creating read. Ladies and gents liked it alike. Even my doctor-colleagues appreciated the book well. So readers who haven’t had a chance to read my book are sure to get a pleasant experience with it.
And yes, the most important thing we would like to hear from you is what is your message to those new writers who have not yet started their journey of becoming an author? You have been their source of motivation, please convey your thoughts with them.
New writers!!Go ahead with your passion in writing. Need not break your heads imagining how to start, how to proceed and how to finish. Imagine your plot in mind and try to expand it while you are free. Start writing whatever you feel. Can reshuffle later. Keep in mind the readers from various walks of life while writing. You can be an excellent author soon.
All the best for your future and this book too! Thanks for answering my questions.
